If you aren’t familiar with FCW star Antonio Cesaro, or Claudio Castagnoli to long time fans, then you should be ashamed of yourself.
Why should you be ashamed?
Aside from being in one of the best PURE wrestling tag teams to come down the pike in a very long time – he is an overall outstanding talent by himself.
Personally, I believe that someone who can draw heat strictly by use of his culture and home country, is awesome.
Here though.. that’s just the gravy! The man is a wrestling machine. A pro wrestler who has a move and counter for every one of your moves and counters.
A man with more signature moves than most rosters in this great sport.
Simply put.. Antonio Cesaro is a real gem in the WWE crown and he hasn’t even debuted on the main rosters television shows yet.
Most people (Including myself if I’m being honest.) question if the WWE know exactly how to capitalize on him and his strengths.
All I can really say at this time on that subject is.. HOW CAN THEY SCREW HIM UP?! I know.. I probably just jinxed him huh?
Hmm.. Anyways, moving on akwardly.. Over the weekend he appeared on the houseshow tours, teaming with another FCW alum, Michael McGillicutty against Alex Riley & Mason Ryan.
Not a bad start for him at all really, if you look at it in certain terms. A giant green monster and two good young and up coming athletes. He could only shine even brighter in those surroundings.
If you’ve been keeping up with his tenure in FCW, then you’ve no doubt seen his recent feud with Seth Rollins. THAT’S one of the better young feuds in professional wrestling in my humble opinion.
They can really help showcase each others skills to the max. After seeing those matches, you really get a feel for what those two can do. Which is.. ALOT.
I’ve been trying to work out some sort of onscreen debut scenario, or a straight forward program upon his debut. I suppose he’ll be using his VERY European “act”, which honestly.. he is.
So it’s not really a gimmick per say. Looking forward to seeing how he takes the ball and runs with it, when it comes to his over the top character.
I’d also like to see him involved with possibly Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler, Alex Riley or someone of that sort. Be it as an opponent or an ally.
I think all of those men would work very well together in some fashion and I’m really excited about those possibilities.
Now that all of that has been said, there’s the Chris Hero factor. Castagnoli’s Kings of Wrestling tag partner.
A veteran of mat classics all over the globe himself, he is no stranger to being an amazing talent in the world of pro wrestling.
Not sure of all the details, but it’s been reported he wasn’t signed when Claudio/Antonio was, because he failed the physical for some reason.
Rumor has it, he will be evaluated again this month and could be headed to the SHOW aswell. What does this mean for Antonio? What does it mean for Hero? Could these two be paired back up?
Would they get a true chance to shine and maybe just maybe take off in popularity in the “SOMEWHAT” rejuvenated tag team division?
So many questions and the answers aren’t coming fast enough. ARGH! Honestly though, in the long run I guess we could have worse problems.
I find it amazing and pretty shocking that the WWE is FINALLY giving “OUR GUYS” a chance to reach the level they deserve to reach.
With Antonio’s televsion debut eminent, we are on the verge of watching either something very special, or something they will completely miss manage and end up ruining before he even starts.
Still being on the fence with this one.. I suppose I’ll just have to wait and see like the everybody else.
Until then though.. I’m off to watch the 2010 Ultimate Endurance Tag Wars Final and dream about what could/should be.
