Picture it..
Sitting around the offices of JimmySick.com, pizza, Root Beer (Yep.. it’s how the Sickster rolls.) and the ol’ dvd player rolling for inspiration.
On the docket?
Hell in a Cell 2010.
One of the main attractions of that event was the match between John Cena & Wade Barrett.
If Cena loses, he must join the dreaded Nexus.
On the other hand, if Cena wins – Nexus is NO MORE!
We all know how this one ended up..
It lead to the short lived but shockingly entertaining John Cena/Nexus collaboration.
As I happily watched this event on dvd with a slice of thin crust Meat Lovers pizza dangling freely from my face, I began to think..
Man.. I miss Nexxus.
More importantly though, I miss Wade Barrett.
How impressive was Wade during this period of time?
You either really enjoyed him in this role, or despised him.
Which ever direction you went, you have to admit – he garnered a huge reaction from wrestling fans everywhere.
I sat there thinking about that in pizza and soda bliss, when the one question kept popping into my head..
Where could he be right now, had he not gotten injured recently?
After the WWE decided, for some reason, to bring him down a notch..
He cooled off for a bit.
But the weeks leading up to his injury, Wade was FANTASTIC.
You could just sense.. you know what? Scratch that.. You could SEE major things in the works for him.
And I for one, was extremely excited about the potential of a Wade Barrett championship run in the near future.
You couldn’t ask for more in a talent when it comes to Wade.
An athletic young man with obvious intelligence. That’s a big plus!
He could talk on the mic as good as any veteran and BETTER than some.
A big burly bare knuckle brawler from England, who you look at and truly believe.. man, this guy isn’t going to take crap from anyone.
As he proved during the Nexxus/Corre angles – he’s a natural leader, who demands you to take notice.
And you will.
When he can finally return from his arm injury, which he received during a botched throw outside of the ring by the Big Show, I can see Wade grabbing a spot in the main event scene and not letting go.
The possible feuds they have upon his return, are enough to have even your less passionate wrestling fan out there salivating!
The obvious choice of a feud with the Big Show would be great.
They proved once before that people would get behind that feud.
Throw in the injury aspect and take away the Corre this time around.. and this could be a great “Sleeper” feud.
How great would the eventual Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett feud be?
Those two would totally brutalize each other!
They were starting to set this one up before the injury slammed the brakes on it.
I have to say.. I was REALLY wanting to see where they could take it.
Wade vs Daniel Bryan.
Wade vs. CM Punk.
Wade vs.. well.. ANYONE!
I cannot be the only one who believes Mr. Barrett, upon his return, is going to set the bar pretty high for young talent.
The WWE needs the “Winds of Change” that Barrett has promised to deliver.
We true fans KNOW that this is just a small speed bump in the eventual great run that is going to come from Wade Barrett.
Now.. if only injuries could heal faster because we wish them away.
Wade Barrett.. We are pulling for you.. and us.
Because we all know what you will bring to the table, will be amazing.
And that’s good for us all.
Now hurry up and get better!
